Currently, pedestrian traffic across Eire gets ‘ok to walk’ lights on Liberty, Union, and Green streets, at the same time that driving traffic gets green arrow lights to make left hand turns to cross the pedestrian walkway. This situation is unacceptable. I, myself, have had way too many close encounters with vehicle traffic while trying to walk across Eire at these intersections. And I can’t blame the drivers of the motor vehicles for almost running me down, because they have a green left turn light telling them it’s ok to drive thru these intersections at twenty miles an hour.
I hold the city of Schenectady responsible for this unacceptable situation, and the city will be on the top of my list of people to sue, if I am ever injured while trying to walk across Eire. Fix Eire Now.
I am a native of Schenectady and would love to see downtown completed. First the Erie project then maybe the corridor down to the College. It would be great to get people to obey the 30 MPH limit that is on Erie from the Interchange to Nott, thereby making it safe for those of us who want to walk in our city to cross and get to the businesses.
Looking forward to it
