Existing Roadway Conditions
Do you want Schenectady’s first impression to visitors of the city to be the current conditions that we face on Erie Boulevard? The roadway that exists now gives travelers a number of difficult conflicts. The four travel lanes that are currently at Erie Boulevard make travel entirely too fast and dangerous, providing an avenue for frequent accidents, difficult pedestrian crossings, random u-turns, and difficult left turns.
Along with the troublesome traveling environment, the current conditions are far from aesthetically pleasing. If the proposed plan is implemented, Erie will be beautified into a boulevard that encourages families to ride their bicycles along the bike path safely and provides turnarounds and traffic alterations that will make traveling to Downtown Schenectady a more safe and pleasurable experience.
